GRANDMASTER TITLE

BFCC would like to congratulate NIGEL ROBSON who recently achieved has second GM norm in the Barrios Memorial.

His GM title has been confirmed and will be presented at the ICCF congress next year. Nigel is currently playing in a World Championship Candidates tournament and will represent England in the forthcoming European Team Championship

With an average rating of 2513 this is one of the strongest English teams of recent times and BFCC wish them well in what will be a very tough competition.

Best game prize 2011

Entries are invited for the 2011 Best Game Prize of £25 in memory of R.J.Potter and P.C.Wason. There is no entry fee.

 

Any British player is entitled to submit one game played in any section or round of any of the following events: BCCC, BLCCC, BCCTC, BVCCC, any ICCF-organised competition or any event run by a BFCC member organisation. Games must have been completed during 2011.

 

Entries should include:

(A)                a complete score of the game in algebraic notation;

(B)                 the tournament and section and round in which the game was played and the start date of the game;

(C)                 the names and initials of both players;

(D)                a clear indication of the colour of the pieces played by each contestant;

(E)                 the full postal address of the winner of the game, or of both players in the event of a draw.

 

Send entries to Duncan Chambers, BFCC Secretary (duncan dot chambers at york dot ac dot uk) by March 1st. Good luck!

 

ICCF Junior World Cup

 The ICCF are organising a Junior World Cup for anyone born after 1 February 1992. The normal fee is 19 Euros are we are subsidising this to just £5.00! BLCCC 2011-12

The 2011-12 BLCCC has started on 15 October with Toni Halliwell of Keighley defending her title against Valerie Craven of Leeds and Stephanie Lawrence of Cheslyn Hay (2 games against each opponent). Toni Halliwell has taken an early lead by beating Valerie Craven with black and drawing with white. Toni Halliwell has beaten Stephanie Lawrence with black.

BCCTC Team Champions for 2010-11 - BCCA!

BCCA have won the British Correspondence Chess Team Championship (BCCTC) for the 2nd year running with a score of 13/16. Congratulations to BCCA! This 8-man Team tournament is changing slightly for next season. Instead of all 8 boards being postal, 4 boards are switching to webserver although the players will still play only 2 games each.
