Information Circular EditorTo produce and distribute the BFCC's quarterly magazine (about to change from print to predominantly electronic distribution). Some knowledge of word processing/databases would be very useful. Willingness to attend up to three Executive Meetings a year would be an added advantage but not essential. Most material is supplied by BFCC officers/TDs but there is definitely scope for further development.
BCCC Tournament Director
To run the British Correspondence Chess Championship (in conjunction with the
BCCC Committee). Duties include promoting the tournament, assigning entrants
to appropriate sections and dealing with any issues that arise during the
tournament. All sections are now played on the ICCF server, so much of the
routine work is done automatically. Ability to access the server (i.e. reliable
Internet connection) is essential and previous experience as a Tournament
Director would be very useful.
For further information about either vacancy, please contact Duncan Chambers, BFCC Secretary (secretary@bfcc-online.org.uk).

KEN MESSERE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
† Ken
Messere, who our tournament commemorates, was a major figure in British
correspondence chess some 35-40 years ago. He was a respected IM in the
days when that title really meant a great deal,
played in World Championship 5 final, won by Hans Berliner, and was the
main author of a fine book of that tournament, but his professional activities
took precedence. For many years Ken lived in Paris, working for OECD (Organisation
for Economic Cooperation and Development) at a very senior level, and was
an acknowledged world expert on fiscal policy and taxation. Ken died just
over two years ago. The tournament is to be played live
on the ICCF Webserver.
Engalnd have been drawn against Slovenia, Romania, Germany, Russia, Portugal, Sweden, Bulgaria and Lithuania. Further details here.
SIMON WEBB MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
† Simon
Webb, Correspondence Chess Grandmaster, was born on June 10, 1949.
He died on March 14, 2005, aged 55.BFCC are pleased
to announce the start of the Simon Webb Memorial tournament. Thirteen of
the worlds strongest players will play a memorial tournament in honour
of Simon. You
can follow games live at the ICCF server with a 5 move delay.
