IM John Jordan died 4.3.2003 after a battle lasting some months against cancer of the pancreas, which had been diagnosed by chance late last year. He had lived in France for many years, and worked as a freelance technical translator. John was also a very effective chess database compiler, and supplied excellent research material to our Olympiad teams.

† Dr. Peter C. Wason died 17.4.2003, a few days before his 79th birthday. One of this country's leading psychologists, he had been a keen supporter of international correspondence chess until being forced to retire through ill-health some years ago.

† IM Stephen Tatlow died 22.4.2003, aged 52 following a brain haemorrhage. Stephen won the 1999/2001 British Correspondence Championship, and finished second in the recent SCCA Bulletin 21st Anniversary tournament, gaining the IM title. He was also a strong over the board player; first place at the 2002 York Congress earned him a place in last summer's British Championship at Torquay, where he performed with credit.
