Chessbase Light
ChessBase Light is a special version of ChessBase 6.0 for free download. It has one serious restriction in that it is limited to holding 8000 games per database. However you can simply overcome this by limiting your databases to high class games and / or having dozens of small databases, these can easily be searched in one go so convenience is really the only problem.
Chessbase Light the new CBH format of ChessBase 6 and Fritz 5 as well as handling the well known PGN format without problem. Chessbase Light is a great option for those who are unsure if they really want a high powered fully featured database system such as Chessbase 9 or the slightly older Chessbase 8.
When using CB Light it pays to remember that the program is based on Chessbase 6, since that time the Chessbase database system has undergone several enhancements that are not present in the light version. Having said that, CB Light is definitely worth trying out if you do not own a database system or simply wish to give one a trial run.
Within the 8000 games barrier there is no limit to save, copy, convert, annotate, print, search, analyse, merge and classify games.
