New CC Book from Baumbach

Fritz Baumbach - Who is the Champion of Champions(From Fritz Baumback - former World CC Champion) A short time ago my (and my co-authors) book “Who is the Champion of the Champions” was published. The book is an appreciation of all CC champions from the first champion J. Purdy (1953) to the current champion (21st, 2008) J. van Oosterom, altogether 18 champions. You will find many thrilling and interesting games and a lot of stories.

ITALY, UKRAINE, ISRAEL, LATVIA, FRANCE, BELGIUM, HUNGARY, PORTUGAL AND THE NETHERLANDS.

Best Game Prize awarded

The 2010 BFCC Best Game Prize has been awarded to Neil Limbert for his game against Daniel Horwitz in ICCF World Cup 17. Congratulations to Neil and many thanks to ICCF GM Peter Coleman for judging the entries.

Toni Halliwell has beaten Sue Howell with white to secure the Championship with a final score of 6.5/8. She was unbeaten and can no longer be overhauled--what a return! Stephanie Lawrence has drawn as white with Sue Sweet. Valerie Craven has beaten Sue Sweet with black to clinch 2nd prize with 6/8. Sue Howell has beaten Stephanie Lawrence with black to move to 3.5/6. Sue Sweet has beaten Stephanie Lawrence with white. Sue Howell has beaten Sue Sweet 2-0 to clinch 3rd place. Final scores: Toni Halliwell 6.5, Valerie Craven 6, Sue Howell 5.5, Sue Sweet 1.5, Stephanie Lawrence 0.5.

Entries are invited for the 2011-12 BLCCC, starting on 15 October 2011, with adjudication date 31 July 2012. Send the £7 entry fee to the tournament director, Keith Escott, 43 Orchard Road, Erdington, Birmingham B24 9JB by 30 September 2011 (cheques payable to BFCC). The tournament is open to all women or girls residing in the British Isles except the Irish Republic. Play is by post, or email if both players agree.
